Charl and Mariska are a married couple who met one another in 1998 whilst studying at the University of Pretoria. After graduating and gaining work experience, they got married in July 2005.

Mariska is a physiotherapist who manages her own practice in Pongola, northern KwaZulu Natal. Charl completed an honourary Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management, manages the Hlambanyathi Game Reserve and is concurrently aspiring towards a Ph.D. on his leopard research.  The Hlambanyathi Game Reserve is a Senekal family owned private reserve and is where the majority of images published on the site were taken.  Their photographic equipment of choice is a variety of Canon Digital SLR camera bodies with lens systems ranging from 17 to 600 mm.

When not working, they try to spend as much time as possible in the bush, taking photographs, or if the light does not allow, just spending time with the animals they so dearly love. They hope that the close bonds they share with the animals of the South African bush is reflected in their pictures and that they can bring some of the magic of the northern KwaZulu Natal bushveld to everyone accessing this site.
