This page will be updated on a monthly basis and shows the activity of the leopards correlated with time and temperature (degrees C).

This is January's activity graph of both cats' combined X and Y axis movement plotted against time and temperature (degrees Celcius).  This month's data is quite interesting as Caroline's activity patterns indicate a higher diurnal than nocturnal activity.  This is in stark contrast to her previous activity patterns which followed roughly the same pattern as Steffie's activity, with higher nocturnal than diurnal readings, combined with very high activity spikes around crepuscular times (sunset and sunrise).  I do not know whether her interesting movements can be ascribed to her reproductive cycle or even the fact that she is becoming somewhat of a specialist in warthog hunting (warthog are diurnal creatures).  The latter reason is probably not it, as Steffie herself also specializes in warthog piglets as well (in this time of the season) and her activity patterns stayed more or less similar than previous months'.

Data indicates Caroline gets up between 5 and 8 am, is active until about mid-day when she rests, becomes active again at 15:00 with a steep decline in activity between 19:00 and 21:00 and hardly any activity at night.

Steffie shows us a more "typical" activity pattern with high nocturnal readings coupled with inactive daytime levels.

The sum of their movements is divided by 3.  This division shifts the activity lines to a lower level on the graph in order to superimpose activity directly over temperature.
